What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Circle K's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a licensee is required to purchase all items containing the Proprietary Marks, including all signage, from Circle K's approved suppliers. Circle K will provide the licensee with a list of approved suppliers, which Circle K may modify from time to time.
This requirement ensures brand consistency and quality control across all Circle K locations. By mandating that licensees purchase branded items from approved suppliers, Circle K maintains a uniform image and ensures that all products meet the company's standards. This protects the integrity of the Circle K brand and helps to provide a consistent customer experience.
For a prospective franchisee, this means they will not have the freedom to choose their own suppliers for branded items. While this may limit their options, it also ensures they receive products that meet Circle K's specifications. It is important for potential franchisees to review the list of approved suppliers and understand the costs associated with purchasing from them. Franchisees should also inquire about the process for adding or changing approved suppliers, as well as the criteria for supplier approval.
Non-compliance with Circle K's standards and requirements regarding the Proprietary Marks can result in a breach of the franchise agreement. Licensees are responsible for ensuring their premises fully comply with Circle K's branding, image, and appearance standards, as outlined in the Circle K Image Guide. Failure to comply with these standards can cause irreparable harm to Circle K, potentially leading to penalties or termination of the agreement.
