What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Circle K's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Items 7 and 11 contain information regarding the franchisee's obligations for initial and ongoing training. Item 11 specifically discusses the details of the training programs offered and required by Circle K. This includes the initial training program that franchisees or their operations manager and store manager must complete before commencing business operations.

The initial training program consists of a two-week classroom component at Circle K's training facilities, primarily in Tempe, Arizona, or other specified locations. This training covers the basic operating procedures of the Circle K Business System, as outlined in the Business Systems Manuals, and may include technology training provided by a third party. Franchisees may also be required to complete up to two weeks of in-store training at various Circle K Stores or similar convenience stores, depending on Circle K's assessment of their experience. Additionally, franchisees might need to complete a one-week regional in-store training conducted by Circle K.

Circle K may also hold additional or refresher training courses from time to time, which franchisees and their store managers may be required to attend. While there is no fee for these courses (unless Circle K elects to conduct training in a location near the franchisee to accommodate their needs), franchisees are responsible for covering the costs of travel, lodging, meals, and other expenses incurred while attending the training. Furthermore, if a franchisee hires a new manager, they are responsible for ensuring that the new manager is adequately trained, including a review of the Business Systems Manuals and potentially completing Circle K's training program at the franchisee's cost. New store managers must complete training and be certified by Circle K within the first 90 days of employment.

For existing convenience store franchisees operating under Circle K Marks or other designated trademarks, Circle K may offer a Modified Training Program that is shorter in duration, lasting approximately three to five days and covering items specific to the Circle K Program. Regardless of whether a franchisee attends the standard Training Program or the Modified Training Program, all franchisees must complete the same pre-classroom assignments and pass the same final exam. If a franchisee receives a default notice related to operational standards, Circle K may require the franchisee and/or their managers to re-attend and successfully complete the training program at their expense as a condition of curing the default.
