What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Circle K's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, if a franchisee fails the final exam for the classroom training or any part of the on-the-job training, Circle K may require the franchisee to retake the training or any additional training that Circle K deems necessary. The franchisee will be charged $2,000 per week for this additional training.
This means that franchisees who do not pass the initial training may incur significant additional costs. The $2,000 per week fee covers the cost of the training itself, but it's important to note that this does not include other potential expenses such as travel, lodging, and meals, which the franchisee would also be responsible for. This could represent a substantial financial burden, especially for new franchisees who are already investing heavily in starting their business.
Furthermore, the FDD states that failure to successfully complete the required training can lead to the termination of the franchise agreement. In such a case, the franchisee would be responsible for repaying all of Circle K's expenses, including the investment Circle K has made in the franchisee's property. This highlights the importance of thorough preparation and commitment to the training program to avoid these potentially severe financial consequences.
