Does Cinnabon specify the fixtures franchisees must purchase?

Cinnabon Franchise · 2025 FDD

Answer from 2025 FDD Document

You must purchase and install, at your expense, all fixtures, furnishings, equipment (including a Computer System), décor and signs, as we direct. If we modify our menu, we may require you to purchase additional equipment to prepare and store new menu items. You may not install on or about your Bakery any merchandise, furnishings, interior or exterior décor items, supplies, fixtures, equipment or utensils unless they have been approved by us in writing. You must purchase these items only from an Approved Supplier unless we specify otherwise.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Cinnabon's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are required to purchase and install all fixtures as directed by Cinnabon. This includes furnishings, equipment (including a Computer System), décor, and signs, all at the franchisee's expense. If Cinnabon modifies its menu, franchisees may be required to purchase additional equipment to prepare and store new menu items.

Franchisees cannot install any merchandise, furnishings, interior or exterior décor items, supplies, fixtures, equipment, or utensils unless they have been approved by Cinnabon in writing. These items must be purchased only from an Approved Supplier, unless Cinnabon specifies otherwise. Cinnabon also has the right to require that Approved Products, other products, Proprietary Ingredients, supplies, furniture, fixtures, equipment, and services that franchisees purchase for resale or use in their bakery meet certain specifications, be a specific brand, kind, or model, and be purchased or leased only from Approved Suppliers or a single designated source.

These stipulations mean that a Cinnabon franchisee has limited autonomy in selecting the fixtures and equipment for their bakery. They must adhere to Cinnabon's directives and purchase from approved sources, which could potentially impact costs and timelines for setting up or remodeling the bakery. It is important for prospective franchisees to understand these requirements and factor them into their financial planning and operational considerations.
