What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Cinnabon Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees face specific restrictions on sales activities without prior written consent from Cinnabon. A franchisee cannot offer for sale, sell, supply for resale, or deliver any goods to a third party other than the ultimate consumer at the Franchised Business without Cinnabon's explicit approval. This restriction ensures that franchisees focus on direct sales to consumers at their physical locations, maintaining the brand's control over distribution channels.
Furthermore, unless Cinnabon provides written permission, franchisees are prohibited from selling any goods through the Internet or any distribution channel other than their physical Cinnabon location. Franchisees also cannot use their Cinnabon premises to produce or sell any goods, products, or services that are not Approved Products sold under the Cinnabon Marks. This prevents franchisees from diversifying into other business ventures that could dilute the Cinnabon brand or create operational inconsistencies.
Specifically, the FDD highlights that franchisees are not allowed to operate a ghost kitchen or delivery business selling goods, products, or services under another brand from their Cinnabon location. These restrictions are designed to maintain brand consistency, protect the integrity of the Cinnabon system, and ensure that franchisees focus on the core Cinnabon offerings and approved sales channels. A prospective franchisee should carefully consider these limitations and discuss any potential alternative sales strategies with Cinnabon during their due diligence.
