What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Cinnabon's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees must obtain prior written approval from Cinnabon before using any materials displaying the brand's Marks. This approval can be revoked at any time with reasonable notice. Franchisees are required to display the Marks in a manner specified by Cinnabon on signage, forms, advertising, supplies, employee uniforms, business cards, and other designated materials. This requirement ensures brand consistency and quality control across all Cinnabon franchises.
This provision is typical in franchising, as franchisors like Cinnabon need to protect their trademarks and brand image. By maintaining control over how the Marks are displayed, Cinnabon can ensure that customers have a consistent experience at any location. This also allows Cinnabon to update its branding and marketing strategies uniformly across the franchise system.
For a prospective Cinnabon franchisee, this means that all marketing and promotional materials, as well as any items displaying the Cinnabon logo, must be submitted to the franchisor for approval before use. This includes everything from in-store signage to employee uniforms. While this may add an extra step to the marketing process, it also provides franchisees with the assurance that their materials align with the brand's standards and are legally compliant. Franchisees should factor in the time required for this approval process when planning marketing campaigns or ordering branded materials.
