What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Cinnabon Franchise Disclosure Document, contributions to the Advertising Cooperative are indeed in addition to both the Advertising Contribution and the Grand Opening Obligation. This means that franchisees must budget for these expenses separately.
The FDD specifies that any contributions a franchisee makes to an Advertising Cooperative are additional to the Advertising Contribution, as detailed in Section 3.2.B, and the Grand Opening Obligation, as detailed in Section 10.1.C. However, amounts paid to an Advertising Cooperative can be credited against the Local Marketing Obligation as specified in Section 10.1.E.
This additional advertising expense could impact a franchisee's profitability, especially during the initial stages of operation when the Grand Opening Obligation is also in effect. Franchisees should carefully consider these advertising costs when evaluating the financial feasibility of a Cinnabon franchise. It is also important to note that if Cinnabon collects the entire Local Marketing Obligation, franchisees will not be required to participate in an Advertising Cooperative.
