Is a Cinnabon franchisee required to participate in promotional campaigns established by Cinnabon or their Advertising Cooperative?

According to Cinnabon's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are generally required to participate in promotional programs at their own cost. This includes purchasing or leasing any necessary materials such as counter cards, posters, banners, signs, photographs, give-away items, and gift cards. These promotional campaigns may also involve other restaurants or businesses, including those operated under different brands licensed by Cinnabon's affiliates.

Cinnabon franchisees may also be required to participate in local, regional, or national advertising cooperatives if Cinnabon requires it. If participation is mandated, the franchisee must adhere to the formal agreements and decisions made by the Advertising Cooperative regarding advertising and marketing in the covered area. Payments to the Advertising Cooperative are determined by the participants and credited against the franchisee's Local Marketing Obligation.

However, if Cinnabon collects the entire Local Marketing Obligation from the franchisee, the franchisee will not be required to participate in an Advertising Cooperative. Furthermore, Cinnabon retains the right to formulate and conduct advertising or promotional programs at its sole discretion, and franchisees may be offered the opportunity to purchase approved advertising and promotional materials prepared by Cinnabon.
