What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Cinnabon's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, before Cinnabon approves the Architectural Plans for a franchise location, the franchisee must ensure compliance with legal requirements. Specifically, the franchisee or their architect must certify to Cinnabon that the Architectural Plans comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the architectural guidelines under the ADA, and all other applicable federal, state, and local statutes, rules, regulations, ordinances, and codes. These are collectively referred to as "Laws" in the FDD.
This requirement ensures that the Cinnabon franchise location is accessible to individuals with disabilities and adheres to all relevant legal standards. It places the responsibility on the franchisee to verify and certify this compliance before seeking final approval from Cinnabon. This step is crucial as it can prevent potential legal issues and ensure that the business operates within the bounds of the law.
Furthermore, the franchisee must submit a complete set of final Architectural Plans to Cinnabon at least 30 days before the Construction Start Deadline. Cinnabon will then review these plans and either accept them or provide comments on required changes. While Cinnabon reviews the plans to ensure compliance with their standards, this review does not assess structural integrity or compliance with applicable laws, reinforcing the franchisee's responsibility for legal compliance.
In summary, a Cinnabon franchisee must proactively ensure and certify that their Architectural Plans meet all ADA and other legal requirements before Cinnabon will grant final approval. This involves engaging qualified professionals to verify compliance and submitting the necessary certifications to Cinnabon.
