Is a Cinnabon franchisee always required to pay a training fee for the SRU, and if so, how much is it?

Cinnabon Franchise · 2025 FDD

Answer from 2025 FDD Document

If you are relocating an SRU, instead of paying the Relocation Fee, you must reimburse us, at the then-current daily training service fee, plus travel related expenses, for services performed by us in conjunction with the relocation.

We may require employees that transfer to your Franchised Business from another Business to successfully complete the Management Training Program again.

We also may require you to send or resend your Managers (as defined below) or employees to the Management Training Program, and require them to successfully complete it, if we have identified operational or performance issues at your Franchised Business.

You must pay us a reasonable training fee that we designate for each Subsequent Trainee that attends a Management Training Program, which is currently $250 per trainee per day and may be increased in any calendar year by no more than the Allowed Adjustment.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to the 2025 Cinnabon FDD, franchisees operating a Satellite Retail Unit (SRU) may incur training fees under specific circumstances. The standard Management Training Program is provided at no additional charge for the first two franchised businesses operated by the franchisee or their affiliates. However, for the third and subsequent franchised businesses, a training fee applies if the franchisee is required or elects to receive the Management Training Program from Cinnabon or its designee. The franchisee must also reimburse Cinnabon for training services if relocating an SRU.

The training fee is currently $250 per trainee per day, but this amount may increase annually, subject to an 'Allowed Adjustment.' This fee applies if additional trainees beyond the required number attend the Management Training Program, if trainees attend separate sessions, if trainees fail to complete the program successfully and re-enroll, or if Cinnabon provides the Management Training Program to Subsequent Trainees (managers or other designated personnel hired after the franchise opens).

Furthermore, Cinnabon may charge fees for additional training programs beyond the Management Training Program, with costs ranging from $0 to $2,500 per attendee. Franchisees are also responsible for all expenses related to training, including travel, food, lodging, compensation, and uniforms. Cinnabon reserves the right to modify its training programs at any time, and franchisees may be charged for failing to cancel scheduled training sessions with sufficient notice or for inadequate preparation for training.
