Cinnabon Franchise · 2025 FDD

Answer from 2025 FDD Document

We refer to businesses that use the System and are identified by the Marks as "Businesses." We refer to Businesses that are primarily identified by the CINNABON SWIRL™ Mark and operate with some modifications that we specify to elements of the System used in a standard Business (which modifications are also part of the System) as "Swirl Businesses." You desire to obtain a license to use the System and the Marks to operate one Swirl Business, and we are willing to grant you a license to operate a Swirl Business, subject to the terms and conditions of this Agreement.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to the 2025 Cinnabon FDD, 'Businesses' are defined as establishments that utilize the Cinnabon system and are identified by the brand's trademarks. The FDD further distinguishes 'Swirl Businesses' as those primarily recognized by the CINNABON SWIRL™ mark. These Swirl Businesses operate with specific modifications to the standard Cinnabon system, which are also considered part of the system.

This definition is important for prospective franchisees as it clarifies the scope of the franchise being offered. Cinnabon is granting a license to operate a specific type of business (a Swirl Business) that adheres to a modified version of the standard Cinnabon system. This means franchisees must be prepared to implement these modifications in their operations.

Understanding the distinction between 'Businesses' and 'Swirl Businesses' is crucial for franchisees to ensure they are operating within the bounds of their franchise agreement. The agreement specifies that franchisees are obtaining a license to operate one Swirl Business, indicating a focus on this particular model. This focus may influence various aspects of the franchise, including operational procedures, marketing strategies, and product offerings. Franchisees should carefully review the franchise agreement to fully understand the implications of operating a Swirl Business versus a standard Cinnabon business.
