What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Cicis's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Iowa law dictates that On Smile LLC must provide the disclosure document to a prospective franchisee at the earlier of two deadlines. The first possible deadline is the date of the first personal meeting between On Smile LLC and the potential franchisee. The second deadline is 14 calendar days before the prospective franchisee signs a binding agreement or makes a payment to On Smile LLC or its affiliates related to the proposed franchise sale.
This means that if Cicis meets with a potential franchisee in Iowa, they must provide the FDD at that meeting, even if it is less than 14 days before an agreement is signed or payment is made. This requirement ensures that potential franchisees in Iowa have adequate time to review the disclosure document before making any commitments.
It is important for prospective Cicis franchisees in Iowa to be aware of this specific state law, as it may differ from the federal requirement of 14 calendar days. Franchisees should ensure they receive the FDD in a timely manner to allow for thorough review and consultation with advisors before signing any agreements or making payments.
