What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Cicis Franchise Disclosure Document, Cicis, its personnel, or agents have the right to enter the premises and remove items under specific circumstances related to de-identifying the restaurant after the lease or franchise agreement has expired or terminated.
Specifically, for up to 30 days after the expiration or termination of the lease or Franchise Agreement, Cicis can enter the premises to de-identify it as a Cicis restaurant. This includes removing signs, decor, and materials that display any marks, designs, or logos owned by Cicis or its affiliates. This encompasses exterior signs and awnings, signs on shopping center pylons or monument signs, interior signs, decor items, and any other items that identify the location as a Cicis restaurant.
In addition to removing identifying items, Cicis may also make other modifications, such as repainting, if reasonably necessary to protect the Cicis system's signs, marks, and intellectual property rights. This ensures that the brand's image and trademarks are protected even after a franchise location ceases to operate as a Cicis restaurant.
