What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Cicis's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee who wishes to transfer their Development Rights must pay Cicis a transfer fee. This fee is $7,500, in addition to any costs Cicis incurs to cover expenses associated with the transfer.
Before a transfer can occur, Cicis requires that the franchisee and their owners must not have violated any agreements with Cicis or its affiliates within 60 days of requesting the transfer and up to the transfer date. Additionally, the new transferee and their owners must sign a guaranty, agreeing to be bound by the existing agreements. The transfer of Development Rights must also include all Franchise Agreements signed under the Development Agreement.
These conditions are put in place by Cicis to protect its brand and interests. The transfer fee compensates Cicis for the administrative and legal work involved in reviewing and approving the transfer. The other conditions ensure that the new franchisee is qualified and committed to upholding Cicis's standards. Prospective franchisees should consider these requirements and costs when planning for the future sale of their franchise.
