What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Cicis' 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are generally responsible for all expenses associated with any training programs, whether initial or subsequent, unless there is a written agreement stating otherwise. These expenses include the costs of travel, lodging, meals, and wages incurred by the franchisee or their personnel while attending the training. This applies to all training programs that Cicis provides.
This means that a prospective Cicis franchisee should factor in these training-related costs when budgeting for their franchise. These costs can potentially be significant, especially if the franchisee is located far from the training location or if multiple personnel need to be trained. It is important to note that Cicis retains the discretion to supplement or replace in-person training with online modules, which could potentially reduce these expenses.
However, Cicis may offer the initial training program at no additional charge, excluding the expenses mentioned above, if the agreement is for the franchisee's first or second restaurant. Cicis also reserves the right to charge a reasonable fee for any initial training provided to replacement or successor personnel, as well as to any initial, replacement, or successor personnel of any additional Cicis restaurant the franchisee establishes. Franchisees should clarify the specific costs and conditions related to training expenses with Cicis during their due diligence process to avoid any surprises.
In the event that Cicis provides on-site remedial training to the franchisee's restaurant personnel, the franchisee will be responsible for paying a per diem fee for the services of the trained representatives, in addition to covering their costs of travel, lodging, and meals. This highlights the ongoing investment required to maintain Cicis' standards and operational excellence.
