What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Cicis's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees must pay a renewal fee if they choose to renew their franchise agreement. The renewal fee is $7,500, and franchisees must also reimburse Cicis for reasonable out-of-pocket costs and expenses associated with the renewal. These costs include legal and accounting fees.
To renew the franchise agreement, franchisees must meet several conditions. They must provide written notice of their election to renew between six and nine months before the end of the current term. The restaurant's premises and assets must comply with Cicis's then-current system standards and image. Franchisees and their affiliates must not be in default of any agreements with Cicis and must have substantially complied with all agreement terms.
Franchisees must also satisfy all monetary obligations to Cicis and present evidence that they have the right to remain in possession of the restaurant premises. They must execute Cicis's then-current form of franchise agreement, which may have different terms than the original agreement, including potentially different royalty fees and fund contribution rates. Additionally, franchisees and their owners must execute a general release of any claims against Cicis and comply with the company's then-current qualification and training requirements. These conditions ensure that franchisees are in good standing and that their restaurants meet Cicis's standards at the time of renewal.
