What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Cicis's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee seeking to renew their franchise agreement must present satisfactory evidence to Cicis that they have the right to remain in possession of the restaurant premises during the renewal term. Alternatively, the franchisee can obtain Cicis's consent for a new site for the restaurant.
If the franchisee proposes a lease modification, amendment, or renewal, it must be presented to Cicis before it is finalized. This allows Cicis's real estate counsel to review the proposal for compliance. The franchisee is responsible for covering the reasonable attorneys' fees associated with this compliance review.
This requirement ensures that Cicis franchisees have secure and compliant locations for the duration of their renewed franchise term. It also allows Cicis to maintain brand standards and protect its interests by reviewing and approving any lease-related changes.
