What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Cicis's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Cicis has the right, but not the obligation, to develop an internal communications network or "Intranet" through which they and their franchisees can communicate by e-mail or similar electronic means. If Cicis develops an Intranet, franchisees will be required to use it in accordance with all applicable laws and in strict compliance with the standards, protocols, and restrictions that Cicis includes in their manuals. These standards, protocols, and restrictions may relate to the encryption of confidential information and prohibitions against the transmission of libelous, derogatory, or defamatory statements.
Cicis also reserves the right to require franchisees to obtain from them and use an e-mail address associated with their registered domain name. If Cicis requires franchisees to obtain and use such an e-mail address, they must do so according to Cicis's then-current System Standards. Cicis will have unrestricted access to all such e-mail accounts, and all documents, data, materials, and messages shared from or by such accounts. Cicis may deactivate any such account or limit a franchisee's or their users' access to it at any time. Franchisees must use such e-mail address only in connection with the operation of their Restaurant and in compliance with all Laws.
This indicates that Cicis intends to maintain control over communications with franchisees, ensuring that information is disseminated efficiently and in accordance with their standards. The franchisee must adhere to these communication methods and standards, which could include using a branded email address and communicating through the Intranet, if established. This allows Cicis to monitor and manage the information being shared, ensuring compliance and consistency across the franchise system.
