What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Cicis Franchise Disclosure Document, Cicis has not implemented mandatory marketing cooperatives at this time. However, Cicis retains the right to establish marketing cooperatives in any geographic area where two or more Cicis restaurants are located. If a cooperative is established in an area where a franchisee's Cicis restaurant is located, the franchisee must become a member and sign all required documents. Each Cicis restaurant in the cooperative, whether company-owned or franchised, has one vote.
Franchisees are required to make contributions to the cooperative, which are governed by the cooperative's documents. These contributions consist of a Minimum Cooperative Contribution, which can offset the Local Marketing Spend, and an Excess Cooperative Contribution, which cannot. All marketing plans and materials used by the cooperative must be approved by Cicis.
While Cicis has not implemented mandatory marketing cooperatives, they retain the discretion to do so. If implemented, this would require franchisees to participate and contribute to the cooperative's marketing efforts, potentially impacting their local marketing strategies and expenses. Franchisees should stay informed about any potential changes to Cicis's marketing policies and cooperative structures.
