What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Cicis' 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, maintaining uniformity among all Cicis restaurants is considered important. As a franchisee, you must comply with all System Standards, which are the standards, specifications, policies, and procedures relating to the operation of your restaurant, as they exist from time to time. While Cicis retains the right to establish and modify these System Standards, the franchisee is responsible for the day-to-day management and operation of their restaurant, including implementing and maintaining these standards.
System Standards can regulate various aspects of the restaurant's operation and maintenance. These include sales, marketing, advertising, promotional programs, staffing levels, employee qualifications, dress, appearance, use and display of the Marks, days and hours of operation, methods of payment, online presence management, participation in market research, gift card programs, menus, bookkeeping, accounting, data processing, record keeping systems, and participation in quality assurance and customer satisfaction programs. System Standards also include the use of third-party food delivery services, online ordering services, types, amounts, terms and conditions of insurance coverage, and any other aspects of operating and maintaining the restaurant that Cicis determines to be useful to preserve or enhance the efficient operation, image, or goodwill of the Marks and Cicis Restaurants.
This emphasis on uniformity is typical in franchising, as it aims to create a consistent brand experience for customers across all locations. For a prospective franchisee, this means adhering to Cicis' established systems and standards in all aspects of the business. While franchisees have the right and sole responsibility for the day-to-day management and operation of their Restaurant and the implementation and maintenance of System Standards at their Restaurant, Cicis maintains control over the broader brand standards and marketing efforts. Franchisees should be prepared to implement changes to comply with updated System Standards, as these may be modified periodically.
