What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Christies International Real Estate Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are not allowed to sublicense their rights under the agreement. The document states that the license granted to the franchisee is personal and can only be used from the Main Office and any Additional Office authorized by Christies International Real Estate.
Christies International Real Estate maintains control over the use of its Marks and can grant licenses or franchises to others to operate Christies International Real Estate businesses outside of a franchisee's protected territory. They also reserve the right to operate any kind of business under the Marks, including through electronic means, regardless of location, without compensating the franchisee.
This means that a Christies International Real Estate franchisee's rights are limited to the specific territory and office locations approved by the franchisor. The franchisee cannot transfer or delegate their rights to another party. Christies International Real Estate retains the flexibility to expand its brand through other channels and locations, even if they compete with existing franchisees, which is a common practice in franchising to allow for growth and adaptation to market changes.
