What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Christies International Real Estate's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Christie, Manson & Woods, Limited (referred to as "IP Owner"), which owns the trademarks and licenses them to Christies International Real Estate, was an affiliate of Christies International Real Estate prior to December 2021. However, as of the date of the FDD, IP Owner is no longer an affiliate of Christies International Real Estate.
This change in affiliation status could have implications for the franchise system. While the IP Owner still licenses the trademarks to Christies International Real Estate, the lack of an affiliate relationship might affect the level of control or influence that the IP Owner has over the franchise. It could also impact the terms of the Trademark License Agreement between the two entities.
A prospective franchisee should further investigate the details of the Trademark License Agreement and the reasons behind the change in affiliation status to understand any potential risks or benefits. Understanding the current relationship between Christies International Real Estate and the IP Owner is crucial for assessing the long-term stability and brand security of the franchise.
