What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Christies International Real Estate's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Christies International Real Estate has the right to modify territorial policies. Specifically, a franchisee's rights outside of their protected territory may be limited based on territorial grants or protections that Christies International Real Estate or its affiliates have granted to other affiliates or third parties.
This means that while a franchisee has rights to offer and sell real estate brokerage services outside their protected territory within the United States, these rights are not absolute. Christies International Real Estate can change the scope of these rights and is subject to the territorial policies that Christies International Real Estate establishes or modifies from time to time in the Operations Manual.
This is a fairly typical clause in franchise agreements, as franchisors need the flexibility to manage their brand and network as market conditions change. However, it is important for a prospective Christies International Real Estate franchisee to understand that their ability to operate outside their protected territory could be altered during the term of their agreement. It would be prudent for a prospective franchisee to discuss these potential modifications with Christies International Real Estate to fully understand the possible limitations and how they might impact their business.
