What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Christies International Real Estate Franchise Disclosure Document, the term 'Internet' is broadly defined within the franchise agreement. It encompasses various electronic platforms and communication methods. This definition includes not only the traditional Internet and World Wide Web but also extends to social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube, as well as blogs, vlogs, and other applications.
This broad definition is important for prospective franchisees because it clarifies the scope of digital activities that are covered under the franchise agreement. It indicates that Christies International Real Estate considers all these online channels as part of the 'Internet' for the purposes of marketing, advertising, and conducting business. Franchisees should be aware that their activities on these platforms are subject to the franchisor's regulations and guidelines, as outlined in the agreement and the Operations Manual.
It is also important to note that Christies International Real Estate explicitly reserves all rights related to the 'metaverse,' distinguishing it from the general definition of the Internet. This means that while franchisees can utilize the Internet for their business activities, the metaverse and any related virtual spaces are under the direct control of the franchisor. This distinction highlights the evolving nature of digital platforms and the franchisor's strategic approach to emerging technologies in the real estate market.
