What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Chop5 Salad Kitchen's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, after the initial design plans are approved, the franchisee's architect must prepare detailed construction plans. These detailed construction plans must meet specific criteria to ensure they align with Chop5 Salad Kitchen's standards and legal requirements.
Specifically, the detailed construction plans must be consistent with the already approved initial design plans. They must also adhere to all standards and specifications outlined in the Chop5 Salad Kitchen's Manual, which contains the brand's operational guidelines. Furthermore, the plans must comply with all applicable laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act, building codes, permit requirements, and any lease restrictions applicable to the premises.
Once the detailed construction plans are prepared, the franchisee must submit them to Chop5 Salad Kitchen for final approval. The franchisor's review is limited to verifying that the construction plans align with the brand's system standards. After approval, the franchisee is responsible for constructing and equipping the premises at their own expense, following the approved construction plans and the specifications detailed in the Manual. The franchisee is also responsible for purchasing or leasing and installing all required equipment, fixtures, signs, and other items mandated by Chop5 Salad Kitchen.
Additionally, Chop5 Salad Kitchen maintains control over the selection of professionals involved in the construction process. The franchisee must obtain approval from Chop5 Salad Kitchen for the architects, engineers, contractors, and other suppliers used to construct the Restaurant. Throughout the construction, the franchisee must maintain the minimum general liability and property damage insurance coverage as required by the Manual.
