What This Means (2024 FDD)

According to Chop5 Salad Kitchen's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are required to hire a designated Project Manager to oversee the design, construction, and development of their restaurant. This service, termed 'Project Management Services,' includes several key components. The Project Manager assists with developing a preliminary layout and design for the restaurant, coordinating with the franchisee's architect, and reviewing construction plans and permits. They also help in preparing bids and selecting a general contractor.

Furthermore, the Project Manager monitors the construction progress to ensure the project stays on track. They also support the scheduling and installation of essential elements such as signage, furniture, fixtures, and equipment. The FDD specifies that most of the underlying services are provided by outside suppliers, who are paid directly by the franchisee. The Project Manager's primary role is to oversee and coordinate with the various members of the development team, including architects, engineers, and the general contractor.

The aim of the Project Manager is to streamline the restaurant development process, enabling the franchisee to open their Chop5 Salad Kitchen location as quickly as possible. The designated Project Manager provides these services for a flat fee of $15,000, although this fee is subject to change. This fee is paid at the time the franchisee signs the lease or purchase agreement.
