What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to the 2024 Chop5 Salad Kitchen Franchise Disclosure Document, the development fee is calculated as the sum of the initial franchise fees for all restaurants the franchisee is required to develop under the Area Development Agreement. This fee is paid when the agreement is signed.
The initial franchise fee varies depending on the number of restaurants the franchisee commits to develop. For the first and second restaurants, the fee is $40,000 per restaurant. For the third, fourth, and fifth restaurants, the fee decreases to $35,000 per restaurant. For each additional restaurant beyond the fifth, the fee is $25,000 per restaurant.
For example, if an area developer commits to opening 7 Chop5 Salad Kitchen restaurants, the development fee would be calculated as follows: (2 restaurants x $40,000) + (3 restaurants x $35,000) + (2 restaurants x $25,000) = $80,000 + $105,000 + $50,000 = $235,000. This entire amount is due upon signing the Area Development Agreement and is nonrefundable, regardless of whether all restaurants are eventually opened.
