What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to the 2024 Chocolate Bash Franchise Disclosure Document, the initial franchise fee is $45,000. This fee is due when you sign the franchise agreement and is not refundable. This is a fairly standard initial franchise fee in the food and beverage industry.
If a prospective franchisee and Chocolate Bash agree to develop multiple franchise locations, they will sign a Multi-Unit Development Agreement (MUDA). In this case, the franchise fee is reduced to $35,000 for the second and subsequent units. However, all franchise fees are payable upon signing the MUDA and are non-refundable.
It is important to note that for California franchisees who sign a development agreement, the payment of the development and initial fees attributable to a specific unit in the development schedule is deferred until that unit is open. This condition was imposed because the franchisor had not demonstrated that they were adequately capitalized and/or that they must rely on franchise fees to fund their operations.
