What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Chicken Guy Franchise Disclosure Document, Chicken Guy has 14 days to approve or reject a franchisee's initial construction plans after receiving them. If Chicken Guy requests revisions or 'as built' plans during construction, this 14-day period applies to the initial submission. For any subsequent changes to the plans during construction, Chicken Guy has 10 business days to approve or reject those changes. If Chicken Guy fails to respond within these specified timeframes, the plans or plan changes are deemed rejected.
This approval process is crucial for franchisees as they cannot begin site preparation or construction until they receive written approval of the plans from Chicken Guy. This requirement ensures that all Chicken Guy restaurants adhere to the brand's standards and comply with applicable laws and regulations. Starting construction without approval can lead to significant delays and potential termination of the franchise agreement if the non-compliance isn't resolved within a reasonable timeframe.
It is important to note that while Chicken Guy's approval cannot be unreasonably withheld, franchisees must still obtain approval for any substantial changes to the plans during construction. This protects the consistency and quality of the Chicken Guy brand. Franchisees should factor these review periods into their construction timelines to avoid delays and ensure compliance with the franchise agreement. Communication and adherence to the outlined procedures are key to a smooth construction process.
