What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Chicken Guy's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the franchisee is responsible for hiring and training all employees at their franchised restaurant. Specifically, the franchisee is exclusively responsible for the terms of employment, compensation, and proper training of employees in restaurant operations, human resources, and customer relations. The franchisee must also establish a training program that meets Chicken Guy's standards.

Chicken Guy provides initial manager training programs that include classroom instruction and on-the-job training at designated training facilities or certified training restaurants. Franchisees or their operating principal and designated employees must attend this program and pass an exam to become certified. Chicken Guy won't authorize a restaurant to open until an adequate number of employees have completed this training. Any employee who later assumes a management position must also attend the training program within 30 days.

Chicken Guy may also require franchisees, their operating principal, restaurant manager, or other designated employees to take additional training courses. The franchisee is generally responsible for travel, living, and food expenses for themselves and their employees while attending training. Chicken Guy may also charge a tuition fee for additional training programs and can dismiss anyone from the training program they deem unfit, requiring the franchisee to provide a replacement within one month. Chicken Guy may offer pre-opening assistance with employee training, and if the franchisee's restaurant is the first one developed by them or their affiliates, Chicken Guy will conduct team member training on-site for non-management staff for 7 days before and after opening, with the franchisee reimbursing Chicken Guy for travel and lodging expenses.
