What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Chicken Guy's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Chicken Guy has the right to require franchisees to establish hyperlinks to Chicken Guy's website or another website designated by Chicken Guy. This requirement ensures brand consistency and helps drive traffic to the corporate website, potentially benefiting both the franchisor and other franchisees in the system.
Chicken Guy also has broad discretion over a franchisee's website and online presence. Franchisees must obtain prior written approval from Chicken Guy for any Electronic Identifiers related to the restaurant, the form and content of any website, the use of hyperlinks or other links, and any proposed modifications to the website. Chicken Guy can also designate the form and content of the franchisee's website and require that it be hosted by Chicken Guy or a third party designated by them.
Furthermore, Chicken Guy may charge franchisees a fee for developing, reviewing, and approving the franchisee's website, or for hosting the website. Franchisees are also obligated to use only the email addresses and Electronic Identifiers that Chicken Guy designates for the franchised restaurant, unless otherwise approved by Chicken Guy. These measures allow Chicken Guy to maintain control over its brand's online representation and marketing efforts, but franchisees need to factor in potential costs and limitations on their online activities.
