What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Chicken Guy's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the Developer must comply with all modified System standards when Chicken Guy modifies the Manual. The Developer must also keep their copy of the Manual current and up-to-date with all additions and deletions provided by Chicken Guy. Additionally, the Developer must purchase whatever equipment and related services (including, without limitation, computer system, Internet service, dedicated phone line, facsimile machine, etc.) as may be necessary to receive these communications.
This means that as Chicken Guy updates its operational guidelines, franchisees are obligated to implement those changes. This could involve changes to restaurant construction, food preparation, service standards, or any other aspect of the Chicken Guy system. Franchisees must ensure they have the latest version of the manual and the necessary equipment to receive updates.
The obligation to comply with modifications and maintain up-to-date manuals is standard in franchising, as it allows the franchisor to maintain consistency and quality across all locations. However, it also means that franchisees must be prepared to invest in updates and changes as directed by Chicken Guy. The master copy of the manual maintained by Chicken Guy at its principal offices will control if a dispute relating to the contents of the manual develops.
