What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Chicken Guy FDD, Chicken Guy will furnish franchisees with specific plans for the restaurant's construction and design. These include requirements for dimensions, design image, interior layout, décor, fixtures, equipment, signs, furnishings, storefront, and color scheme. This ensures a consistent brand experience across all locations. Chicken Guy may also require franchisees to use approved architects, project managers, or general contractors.
However, it is the franchisee's responsibility to have all required construction plans and specifications prepared to suit the specific shape and dimensions of their location. These plans are subject to Chicken Guy's approval and must comply with all applicable ordinances, building codes, permit requirements, and lease restrictions. Franchisees must use registered architects, registered engineers, and professional and licensed contractors for this purpose.
Chicken Guy will provide written approval or disapproval of the franchisee's construction plans within 14 days of receiving them. This process ensures that the franchisee's plans align with Chicken Guy's standards and legal requirements before construction begins. This is a fairly standard practice in franchising, as it allows the franchisor to maintain brand consistency and quality control while ensuring the franchisee meets local regulations.
In addition to the physical structure, Chicken Guy also provides written specifications for fixtures, furnishings, equipment, and opening inventory, along with a list of designated and approved suppliers for these items. However, neither Chicken Guy nor its affiliates are currently designated or approved suppliers for any of these items. This means franchisees will need to source these items from the approved suppliers, adhering to the provided specifications to maintain brand standards.
