What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Chicken Guy's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the franchisor reserves the right to dismiss individuals from the initial manager training program if they don't believe the person will perform acceptably in the position. If Chicken Guy dismisses a manager trainee, the franchisee is responsible for providing a suitable replacement within one month of the dismissal.
This policy has significant implications for franchisees. It means franchisees must have backup candidates ready in case a manager trainee is dismissed. The one-month replacement window could be challenging, especially in tight labor markets. Failure to provide a replacement could delay the restaurant opening, as Chicken Guy requires a minimum number of certified managers before authorizing the restaurant to open.
While Chicken Guy does not charge a fee for the initial manager training program, the franchisee is responsible for covering all travel, living, food, and incidental expenses for their employees attending the training. Therefore, a dismissal and subsequent replacement would increase these costs. Franchisees should carefully vet their manager candidates to minimize the risk of dismissal and the associated expenses and potential delays.
