Your Franchise Agreement requires you to devote your full time and personal best efforts to operate your franchised Chick-fil-A Restaurant business to attempt to achieve the highest sales and profits possible and to diligently develop and promote the reputation and the goodwill of your franchised Chick-fil-A Restaurant business, Chick-fil-A and CFA Properties' marks. This requirement will, for all practical purposes, require you to directly supervise your franchised Chick-fil-A Restaurant business. As a result, you will have to keep free from conflicting enterprises or any other activities which would interfere with your exertion of your full time and personal best efforts to operate your franchised Chick-fil-A Restaurant business.

According to Chick Fil A's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee, referred to as an 'Operator,' must devote their full time and personal best efforts to the operation of their Chick Fil A Restaurant. This encompasses striving for the highest possible sales and profits, as well as diligently working to develop and promote the reputation and goodwill of the Chick Fil A brand. The agreement effectively mandates direct supervision of the franchised restaurant.
This requirement means a Chick Fil A franchisee must remain free from any conflicting business ventures or activities that could hinder their ability to dedicate their full time and effort to the restaurant. Chick Fil A requires the Operator to sign the Franchise Agreement, including any attached leases, in their individual capacity. While Chick Fil A may permit the assignment of the Franchise Agreement to a single, approved business entity (like a corporation or LLC) for ownership convenience, the Operator must remain the sole owner ('Operator-Owner') and remain personally bound by and liable for all terms and conditions of the Franchise Agreement and attached Lease(s).
Furthermore, the Operator-Owner must guarantee the full performance of the business entity. This business entity must also assume all obligations of the Operator-Owner under the Franchise Agreement. This ensures that even if the franchise is operated through a business entity, the individual franchisee remains fully committed and responsible for the restaurant's success and adherence to the franchise agreement. This level of commitment extends to opportunities to operate additional Chick Fil A Restaurant businesses, food trucks, or delivery kitchens.
