What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Chick-fil-A's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Chick-fil-A Canada ULC (CFA Canada) is an affiliate of Chick-fil-A, Inc. CFA Canada's primary business activity involves offering franchises and licenses for the development of quick-service restaurants in Canada, operating under the Chick-fil-A trademark. These restaurants specialize in a boneless breast of chicken sandwich. CFA Canada operates under separate Canadian Disclosure Documents for its franchise and licensing activities. CFA Canada was incorporated on September 19, 2017.

In addition to offering franchises, Chick-fil-A Canada may also directly operate Chick-fil-A restaurants or other restaurant concepts in Canada in the future. These operations can be conducted directly or through its own affiliates and subsidiaries. However, as of the FDD date, CFA Canada has not owned or operated Chick-fil-A restaurants of the type that would be operated by a franchisee. CFA Canada began offering franchises in Canada in May 2019 and has not offered or sold franchises in any other line of business.

For prospective franchisees, this means that Chick-fil-A's expansion into Canada is managed through this affiliate. Franchisees in Canada would be contracting with Chick-fil-A Canada ULC, and should review the Canadian Disclosure Documents for specific details relevant to their operations. The FDD indicates that Chick-fil-A may operate restaurants themselves or through affiliates, so franchisees may encounter company-owned stores in the Canadian market, as well.
