What are the 'Required Services' that a Chem-Dry franchisee must offer and perform?
Chem_Dry Franchise · 2024 FDDAnswer from 2024 FDD Document
Under the Franchise Agreement, you must offer and perform carpet and area rug cleaning, upholstery cleaning, spot removal and protecting services, including removing red stains, treating pet urine odor on carpets and imparting stain resistance to carpet fibers that we mandate (the "Required Services"). You also may offer and perform additional services ("Additional Services") that we first
approve for as long as you meet the requirements for continuing to offer the Additional Services. We refer to the Required Services and the Additional Services as the "Approved Services." We may require that you first successfully complete additional training and/or purchase of additional equipment and cleaning solutions. The current list of Additional Services includes leather and vinyl cleaning, carpet repair, carpet spot dyeing, vinyl composite tile cleaning services, wood floor and luxury vinyl plank cleaning services, and dryer vent cleaning. We reserve the right to change the lists of Required Services and Additional Services at any time in our discretion.

What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Chem-Dry's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees must offer and perform specific services, termed the 'Required Services'. These include carpet and area rug cleaning, upholstery cleaning, spot removal, and protecting services. This also extends to specialized services such as removing red stains and treating pet urine odor on carpets, as well as imparting stain resistance to carpet fibers. These services are mandated by Chem-Dry.
In addition to the Required Services, Chem-Dry franchisees can offer 'Additional Services,' provided they obtain approval from Chem-Dry and meet the requirements for offering these services. These Additional Services may require franchisees to complete additional training or purchase extra equipment and cleaning solutions. The FDD specifies that Chem-Dry retains the right to modify the lists of Required and Additional Services at its discretion.
Prospective franchisees should be aware that the services they are required to offer may change over time. It is important to stay updated with any modifications made by Chem-Dry to ensure compliance with the franchise agreement. Understanding the scope of both Required and Additional Services is crucial for planning business operations and potential revenue streams.
