What is the minimum population that a Chem-Dry Franchised Area might have in some rural areas?
Chem_Dry Franchise · 2024 FDDAnswer from 2024 FDD Document
Typically, the minimum size of a Franchised Area is a geographic area having a population of at least 60,000 but in some rural, less-populated areas the Franchised Area might have a population as small as about 5,000. Based on population changes, the Maximum Number may increase or decrease and may not remain constant; however, the Maximum Number only affects CDI's ability to grant franchises and no franchise will be terminated solely as a result of a decrease in the Maximum Number.

What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Chem-Dry's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, the typical minimum population for a Chem-Dry Franchised Area is 60,000. However, in some rural, less-populated areas, the Franchised Area might have a population as small as about 5,000. This means that while most franchisees will operate in areas with a substantial customer base, Chem-Dry does offer opportunities in more sparsely populated regions.
For a prospective franchisee, this is an important consideration. If you are interested in operating in a rural area, you may be able to secure a franchise with a smaller population base than the standard 60,000. However, it's crucial to understand that a smaller population also means a potentially smaller customer base and revenue potential. Franchisees in these areas need to be particularly adept at marketing and customer acquisition to maximize their business opportunities.
Chem-Dry determines the number of franchises allowed in an area by dividing the population by 60,000. The resulting number is the maximum franchises Chem-Dry may grant in that area. While this number can fluctuate with population changes, it only affects Chem-Dry's ability to grant franchises and won't lead to franchise termination. This ensures that franchisees are not penalized due to population decreases, providing a level of stability in their franchise agreement.
