What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Chem Dry's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee looking to transfer their franchised area must meet certain financial obligations. Specifically, the franchisee is required to pay Chem Dry's then-current Franchised Area Transfer Fee. Additionally, if the franchised area being transferred is a Small Market and the franchisee is relocating the business to a standard-sized franchised area, the franchisee will need to pay the difference between the initial license fee they originally paid and Chem Dry's current price for a standard-sized franchised area. This payment must be made within five days of Chem Dry approving the area transfer.
These financial obligations ensure that Chem Dry is compensated for the administrative costs associated with the transfer and that the franchisee is paying the appropriate fee for the size of the territory they will be operating in after the transfer. The transfer is also subject to Chem Dry's discretion and any other requirements they may reasonably require.
It is important for prospective franchisees to understand these costs upfront, as they can significantly impact the financial feasibility of transferring a Chem Dry franchise. Franchisees should confirm the current transfer fee and standard area license fee with Chem Dry before making any decisions about transferring their franchise. This will help avoid any unexpected costs and ensure a smooth transfer process.
