What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Checkersrallys's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee must open their restaurant within a specific timeframe after completing construction and receiving all necessary government approvals and permits. Specifically, the restaurant must be open and operating within 14 days after construction or installation is completed. However, if the franchisee receives training support from Checkersrallys, they have a slightly extended period of 19 days after construction or installation to open the restaurant.
This requirement is important for prospective franchisees to consider as it sets a clear expectation for how quickly they must launch their business after the physical setup is finalized. Failing to meet this deadline could potentially lead to penalties or other issues with the franchisor. It also highlights the importance of efficient project management and coordination to ensure that all aspects of the restaurant launch are aligned and ready to go as soon as construction is complete.
Checkersrallys does allow for a one-time extension if the franchisee faces challenges in meeting the required time periods for site location, securing approvals and permits, or completing construction, provided they demonstrate good faith efforts. However, this extension is at Checkersrallys's sole discretion, and an extension fee may apply as detailed in Item 6 of the FDD. This flexibility could be beneficial for franchisees who encounter unforeseen delays, but it's not guaranteed.
Overall, the stipulated timeframe underscores the need for franchisees to be well-prepared and proactive in managing the various stages of development and opening. Understanding these timelines and potential extension options is crucial for successful franchise operation with Checkersrallys.
