How are specifications and standards issued to Checkersrallys franchisees?

Checkersrallys Franchise · 2025 FDD

Answer from 2025 FDD Document

We may formulate and modify, at our sole discretion, specifications and standards we impose on franchisees and suppliers. Specifications and standards are issued to franchisees through the Operations Manual (defined below) and to suppliers by written notice. The "Operations Manual" is our confidential operations manual, as we may amend at any time, which may consist of one or more manuals or communications, containing our mandatory and suggested standards, specifications and operating procedures relating to the development and operation of Restaurants and other information relating to your obligations as a franchisee and operator of a Restaurant. The term "Operations Manual" also includes all instructions or communications we or our representatives may transmit to you or a substantial number of franchisees, whether in writing or through other media, concerning aspects or modifications to the System, standards, specifications and operating procedures, including bulletins, emails, limited access intranet sites, videotapes, audio tapes, or any other electronic medium.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Checkersrallys's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, specifications and standards are communicated to franchisees through two primary channels. The first is the Operations Manual, which Checkersrallys can amend at any time. This manual may consist of one or more documents containing mandatory and suggested standards, specifications, and operating procedures related to the development and operation of restaurants. It also includes information about the franchisee's obligations.

The second method of communication is through written notices or other media. Checkersrallys may transmit instructions or communications to franchisees, or a substantial number of them, in writing or through other media. This includes bulletins, emails, limited access intranet sites, videotapes, audio tapes, or any other electronic medium. These communications may concern aspects or modifications to the system, standards, specifications, and operating procedures.

Prospective Checkersrallys franchisees should understand that these specifications and standards are subject to change at Checkersrallys's discretion. Franchisees must stay informed of any updates or modifications communicated through the Operations Manual or other channels to ensure compliance. This system allows Checkersrallys to maintain uniformity and quality across all franchised locations, but it also places the onus on the franchisee to remain current with all changes.

This approach is fairly typical in franchising, where franchisors need to maintain brand consistency and quality control. The Operations Manual serves as a central repository for all standards and procedures, while additional communications ensure that franchisees are aware of any updates or changes in real-time. Franchisees should regularly review these resources to avoid non-compliance and maintain the standards expected by Checkersrallys.
