What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Checkers' 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the signature requirements for the franchise agreement depend on the franchisee's business structure. If the franchisee is a corporation, limited liability company, or partnership, an authorized representative of that entity signs the agreement. However, if the franchisee is an individual, the individual signs the agreement.
The FDD includes signature blocks for both scenarios. For entities, the signature line includes spaces to print the name of the entity and the title of the person signing on its behalf. For individuals, there are signature lines with spaces to print the name of each individual franchisee.
This distinction is important because it clarifies who is legally bound by the agreement. In the case of a business entity, the entity itself is the franchisee, and the individual signing acts as its representative.
