What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Checkers' 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Checkers retains the authority to determine appropriate food, beverage, and other products and services for sale at franchised restaurants. Specifically, Checkers can designate menu items as required or optional and introduce test menu items on either a required or optional basis. Furthermore, franchisees are prohibited from offering any products or services not authorized by Checkers without prior approval. This ensures that Checkers maintains control over the menu and offerings at all its franchise locations.

For a prospective Checkers franchisee, this means that the menu is not static and can change at Checkers' discretion. While franchisees can expect a consistent brand experience, they must also be prepared to adapt to new menu items or changes in required versus optional offerings. This flexibility allows Checkers to respond to market trends and customer preferences, but it also means franchisees have limited autonomy over their restaurant's offerings.

This provision in the franchise agreement underscores the importance of adhering to Checkers' standards and guidelines. Franchisees must stay informed about any menu changes or new product introductions and ensure their restaurant complies with these directives. While franchisees can suggest new items, the final decision rests with Checkers. This dynamic ensures brand consistency and allows Checkers to maintain quality control across all locations.
