Checkers Franchise · 2025 FDD

Answer from 2025 FDD Document

Each aspect of the interior and exterior appearance, layout, decor, services, equipment and operation of your Franchised Restaurant is subject to our specifications and standards. You must comply with all mandatory specifications, standards and operating procedures (whether contained in the Operations Manual or any other written communication) relating to the appearance, function, cleanliness and operation (including days and hours of operation) of a Restaurant.

We may formulate and modify, at our sole discretion, specifications and standards we impose on franchisees and suppliers. Specifications and standards are issued to franchisees through the Operations Manual (defined below) and to suppliers by written notice. The "Operations Manual" is our confidential operations manual, as we may amend at any time, which may consist of one or more manuals or communications, containing our mandatory and suggested standards, specifications and operating procedures relating to the development and operation of Restaurants and other information relating to your obligations as a franchisee and operator of a Restaurant. The term "Operations Manual" also includes all instructions or communications we or our representatives may transmit to you or a substantial number of franchisees, whether in writing or through other media, concerning aspects or modifications to the System, standards, specifications and operating procedures, including bulletins, emails, limited access intranet sites, videotapes, audio tapes, or any other electronic medium.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Checkers' 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees must adhere to specific mandatory standards and operating procedures concerning the appearance, function, cleanliness, and overall operation of their restaurant. These guidelines are detailed in the Operations Manual and other written communications from Checkers. Compliance extends to all aspects of the restaurant, including its interior and exterior appearance, layout, decor, services, and equipment. This ensures uniformity and quality across all Checkers locations.

The Operations Manual, which Checkers may amend at any time, contains both mandatory and suggested standards, specifications, and operating procedures. It covers various aspects of restaurant development and operation, along with franchisee obligations. Checkers may also communicate changes or modifications to the system, standards, specifications, and operating procedures through bulletins, emails, intranet sites, videos, or other electronic media.

To maintain uniformity, Checkers requires franchisees to use only approved fixtures, furniture, equipment, signs, and supplies that meet their standards. These items must be purchased or leased from approved suppliers. Additionally, franchisees must use only food products, beverages, ingredients, uniforms, packaging materials, menus, forms, labels, and other supplies that conform to Checkers' specifications and quality standards. This extends to services as well, ensuring that all aspects of the business align with Checkers' established protocols.

Prospective franchisees should carefully review the Operations Manual and any additional communications from Checkers to fully understand the mandatory specifications, standards, and operating procedures. Understanding these requirements is crucial for maintaining brand consistency and meeting Checkers' expectations for restaurant operations.
