What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Checkers' 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Checkers does not charge any fees for the first two attendees participating in the initial training program. However, Checkers may charge fees for any additional attendees beyond the first two, as well as for the franchisee and their personnel attending any subsequent training programs, whether these are optional or mandatory.
Despite Checkers covering the training program fees for the initial two attendees, the franchisee is responsible for covering all compensation and expenses related to the training programs. These expenses include travel costs, meals, and lodging for all attendees. Neither the franchisee nor their employees will receive any compensation from Checkers for the services they perform during the training period.
This arrangement is fairly typical in the franchise industry, where franchisors often provide the initial training without a direct fee but pass on the logistical costs to the franchisee. This ensures the franchisee is invested in the training and that Checkers can maintain consistent training standards without incurring excessive costs. Franchisees should budget accordingly for these out-of-pocket expenses when planning their initial investment.
