What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Chatime's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, if a franchisee seeks to assign their franchise to a new owner, the proposed manager of the assignee must be approved by Chatime and must successfully complete Chatime's required training program. This requirement ensures that the new management is competent and aligned with Chatime's operational standards.
Chatime also requires that the day-to-day operations of the franchised business are actively managed by an Operating Manager who has attended and successfully completed such training as Chatime may require from time to time. The Operating Manager is expected to devote full-time attention and effort to the business, providing direct supervision as detailed in the Operations Manual, with a minimum of 38 hours per week dedicated to the Chatime store's operations.
If a Managing Owner or Operating Manager does not satisfactorily complete the initial training program, Chatime may elect to train a qualified replacement at the franchisee's expense within 30 days. Pending the appointment and training of a new manager, Chatime reserves the right to appoint a manager for the business, with the franchisee responsible for the associated costs. This highlights the importance Chatime places on proper management and adherence to its training protocols for maintaining brand standards and operational efficiency.
