What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Chatime's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Chatime will have independent unlimited access to the data collected on the franchisee's computer and digital systems. This includes sales data and information about customers, such as names, contact information, and purchase history, as well as information about purchases, payments, transactions, receipts, refunds, discounts, expenses, and inventory.
This means that as a Chatime franchisee, you will not have any contractual ability to restrict Chatime's access to this data. Chatime owns all data collected relating to customers and grants the franchisee a license to use this data solely for operating their Chatime location, which exists only while they remain an approved franchisee.
The franchisee is responsible for protecting all customer data with a level of control proportionate to the sensitivity of the data and must comply with all applicable data protection laws and Chatime's data processing and privacy policies. The franchisee also bears full liability for PCI compliance and data protection. Franchisees must ensure that connectivity is maintained at their Chatime store to allow all data generated by the point-of-sale system to be captured by Chatime's central polling server, to which Chatime will have independent access.
