What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Chatime's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, maintaining specific operational standards is crucial for franchisees. The operating manager is required to devote at least 38 hours per week to the day-to-day operations of the Chatime store, as detailed in the current Operations Manual. This manager must provide direct supervision and dedicate their full attention to the franchised business, ensuring it aligns with the Franchise Agreement and Operations Manual. The operating manager cannot engage in other business activities that conflict with the operational needs or best interests of the Chatime franchise.

Chatime franchisees must ensure their stores adhere to brand standards and specifications. This includes using approved suppliers for real estate, construction, architectural, engineering, and design services. Franchisees must also ensure the Chatime store is accessible to individuals with disabilities, meeting the required accessibility standards. The uniformity of products sold is critical to maintaining the integrity of the Chatime system, meaning franchisees have limited discretion over product offerings and other system standards.

Furthermore, franchisees must use a point-of-sale (POS) system that Chatime approves and maintain constant connectivity to allow data capture by Chatime's central server. Compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations is also mandatory, particularly those concerning state and local licensing, zoning, land use, construction, environmental protocols, and health, sanitation, safety, and fire standards. This includes adhering to laws regarding food handling and nutritional information disclosure. Chatime retains the right to inspect the premises to ensure compliance with these standards and the terms of the Franchise Agreement.
