What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Chatime's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the mediation may occur via videoconference, providing flexibility for all parties involved. However, the parties can mutually agree to a different physical location if they prefer an in-person setting. This agreement on an alternative location offers an opportunity for more direct interaction and potentially a more efficient resolution process.
It's worth noting that if a Chatime franchise is purchased in Washington, the Washington Addendum specifies that the mediation site will be either in the State of Washington or in a place mutually agreed upon at the time of the mediation, or as determined by the mediator at the time of mediation. This clause provides additional protection and convenience for franchisees in Washington, ensuring that the mediation takes place in a location that is accessible and fair.
For prospective Chatime franchisees, this means that while the initial option is videoconferencing, there is room for negotiation to find a location that best suits everyone's needs. Franchisees should consider the potential benefits of both virtual and in-person mediation when a dispute arises and be prepared to discuss location preferences with Chatime to reach a mutually agreeable solution.
