What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Chatime's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Chatime can immediately terminate the franchise agreement if the franchisee breaches the provision related to no other business interests. Specifically, if a franchisee violates clause 9.2, which pertains to not having other business interests, Chatime has the right to terminate the agreement immediately by providing written notice.

This immediate termination clause is significant for prospective franchisees because it highlights the importance Chatime places on franchisees' dedication to the Chatime brand and business model. Engaging in other business ventures that conflict with or distract from the Chatime franchise could lead to immediate termination, resulting in the loss of the franchise and associated investment.

It is important to note that this immediate termination is an exception to the standard termination process, which typically involves a written notice specifying the breach and providing a period (between 3 and 30 days) to remedy the breach. The inclusion of the 'no other business interests' clause among the conditions that allow for immediate termination underscores its critical importance in the eyes of Chatime.
